January 3, 2023 - January Introduction Post

Hi!

So this month’s character is named Jinni because, well, why not (I hope she’s well) . We’re starting 2023 off with a bright color - the last time I did blue was August of 2022 so I thought it was in order. It was either blue, orange, or pink, but last year (:o) I did two pink themes so blue it was. Introducing this month’s character…

Jinni Cobalt!

So in this photo her hair is pink (ahem O.O). It should be, like, a really dark navy but the blue color in the picrew I used for this looked ugly so I made her hair pink. Imagine it with dark blue/almost black hair though (the pink is just a nod to the person Jinni is named after).

Cobalt is both a chemical (it’s on the periodic table, I’ll probably do facts later?) and a color - you’ve probably heard of cobalt blue. I listened to this podcast about the color a few years ago and I still remember a few things. It’s pretty interesting, actually. Fun fact, before I even chose cobalt for January I went to Sephora and bought a bright blue eyeliner. I only made the connection when I checked the eyeliner color to see that it was called Satin Cobalt Blue. I would wear it to school or something, but that might attract some unwanted attention.

Jinni is a painter. I realized another thing as I was writing this - Jinni isn’t the only painter in the Mainland. Of course, this again raises the problem of the competition that arises when there are two or more people with similar interests or in this case, Talents. How do I eliminate this, you ask? Well, of course, no one is upset about this. People don’t develop their painting skill - they’re born with it. They practice to nurture it and bring it to fruition. So the other painters and Jinni have the same skill level, but they don’t paint the same things.

P.S.

I used to have an American Girl doll alongside every month because I went through an intense American Girl Doll phase. I knew the names of all the dolls, I read all the books, I made spreadsheets about the prices of the clothes, and I only owned the Samantha Parkington doll that I’d donated years before. Why am I bringing this to your attention, you may ask? Because American Girl released their 2023 Girl of the Year - and her name is Kavi Sharma. She’s an Indian teenager from New Jersey and she likes Broadway and Bollywood.

She and I are basically the same person.

My friends and I are buying her as a good luck charm for our friend group/dance troupe, so I just thought I’d mention it - this is the first South-Asian doll (aside from TrulyMe) AG has released and I am unreasonably excited. This isn’t an advertisement (obviously), just an announcement. Also, if you haven’t watched the Good Morning America introduction thing then please go watch it *I died* :)
