December 19, 2022 - The Notebooks - #1
It’s been quite a while since my last post (I’ve been sick ๐) but I’m back! I was having a bit of a crisis because, well, Myrin isn’t the most interesting character. I’m trying to make simple and basic characters to showcase the perfection and formulaic-ness of this place, but that makes writing stories for them slightly difficult. In the first (and only) Myrin post I did this month, I told you guys about her three notebooks, so the next three posts will be about her notebooks. This is the first of the three.
I described the first notebook as “a dull dark red the color of dried blood with a few black flowers on the top right side of the cover”, and that’s probably the most accurate description that you guys are going to get. The black flowers aren’t really distinct and they mostly look like a blob of spilled ink, but there are a few silver pencil-like marks that add detail to them and make them more clearly flowers. The notebook is medium-sized, about the length of a chopstick and the width of, uh, three quarters of a chopstick.
This notebook is full of designs that, if you look at for long enough, begin to blur together because they’re all basically the same - bright red fabric spotted with black dots, which I’m just realizing are quite similar to the black splotches on the notebook. Interesting coincidence.
I just realized a flaw in this idea - All of these dresses are based off of ladybugs. But Myrin is the only person in the Mainland who’s Theme is ladybugs. Who is she supposed to sell these to?
I guess she can sell them to people who have red Themes, like… poppies, maybe? Robins? Watermelon?
Oh. Welp. Plot hole. Maybe she makes more money from the second notebook.
But there’s a flaw there too, you see. When you buy things, you are trading a form of set currency for an object (or whatever, you get the point). Some businesses make more money than others, which isn’t very good. If you don’t make a lot of money, then you can’t buy nice things. Perhaps you can’t buy things at all.
That’s actually quite a problem. Hmm. I’m going to have to fix that…
