November 11, 2022 - Edition Ellie #1
Hi!
To describe something properly, visualization is key. But I can do better than explain people and places with flowery descriptions like “rectangular potato” (because who on earth would use the description rectangular potato, that’s so absolutely ridiculous-). I can give you a ✨picture✨.
Meet Ellie Emerald:
Of course, the character designer I used didn’t have all the options I wanted - The gold stuff on her overalls should be tiny shards of bright green glass cut in various polygrams (that’s the general word for 2D shapes, right?), and those sock-looking things on her feet should be dark green wool slippers. But she has a little monocle and it’s so friggin cute and her overalls are so cute and she’s wearing slippers my guys and she has pigtails-
*inhales*
So who is Ellie Emerald? Well, basic information: she’s 15 years old in our age counting system (bet you can’t guess - to be explained), she makes moasics (yes that’s a purposeful typo, I am aware that it’s spelled m o s a i c) for a living, she’s very clear-cut in her decisions (eheheheh I’m so funny), and she’s particular. She’s the kind of person who will go to Starbucks and get that obnoxiously complex order with like two and three eighths of a pump of caramel and one and a half cups of grass-fed chickpea milk or whatever (Also is chickpea milk a thing, cause it sounds revolting…). Actually, my friends and I were playing a game at lunch, deciding what drinks our other friends would be (hello, energy drink + sparkling water + 5 hour refrigeration and cinnamon tea + large chunk of cinnamon + too much sugar). I think Ellie would be a specialty tea that you can only find in one of those tiny little Asian markets with more products than your slightly eccentric aunt/grandmother’s makeup cabinet. Maybe a jasmine tea in a tiny little cup with golden detailing that looks like it was drawn by a fairy or something. I’ve never actually tried jasmine tea, but it sounds nice. Just the word jasmine is such a satisfying word. Maybe I’ll name my next character Jasmine. Oops, off topic.
Mosaics apparently take a long time, but I have made the official decision to make one of my own. Okay, maybe not a real one. But a paper mosaic. Or maybe I can make one out of beads. What do you think? Paper or beads, or maybe fabric? I could sew a bunch of pieces together and make a quilted sort of something. I could also do glass, or maybe thin sheets of plastic, or yarn, or ribbon… There are tons of possibilities. I could even do a Diamond Dotz painting! Does anyone know what those are? Gosh, they’re these little plastic dots that you stick to a big sticky thing to make a picture… I love those. I’m definitely doing that. I might put myself through hell and back trying to retain my sanity, but it’ll be worth it.
And just a disclaimer, I normally do stuff like this. I always make craft projects and draw things and maybe even buy clothes or something based off this whole Theme of the Month thing. It’s more than just a story. It’s… I’m not sure exactly what it is, but it’s magic. To me, at least. I hope anyone reading this enjoys it as well.
What does she make mosaics of?
ReplyDeleteShe mostly makes them out of glass/colored plastic cause that's what they're normally made of.
DeleteOooo I am intrigued as always.
